This is a scary time, not just for Americans, but the world as a whole, the entire human race. Due to greed and poor politics, we stood at the edge of a great pit and looked down. Some lost their balance and came crashing down. Some of us are still teetering there, hopeful for a helping hand, dreading even the slightest shove.
A Man's Home Is His Castle
In a time when the American dream has become a nightmare, Repulicans continue to fester with hatred for the President and lock-up any sort of progress in Washington. Apparently, there will be no relief for the American middle class by the current "do-absolutely-nothing" congress as they risk the very American dream of home ownership. It seems that the Republicans fear that any progress what-so-ever will make President Obama look good. They can't risk that, at all. There is a new term, a new election, and they will have some sort of wishy-washy candidate that they need to look good against the might of an incumbent President, after all.
The influx of new Republican members into the House of Congress, as well as the Senate was a direct reflection of the American citizen's desire for checks and balances when presented with a Democratic bankroll. However, these new Republicans were largely Tea Party candidates, and every one of them pledged that they could work with the current administration. That still has not happened.
In the meantime, the people are huddling in masses to protest, like back in the Vietnam war era. This time, the American people are protesting the protectionistic ways of this very congress, for the rich, and for the lobbyists who represent not people, but corporations. Since when did we become a nation built of the corporation and for the corporations? When we let the lobbyists have any input over anything that was not charitable, that's when.
Not one banker has been charged with a crime concerning the largest debacle in the entire financial history of the US. Not one banker, financier, trader, lawyer or even corporate entity. This is the largest rape of a nation's citizens in the history of the world, worldwide. And no one has ever answered for it, still. Why? This was one of President Obama's campaign promises, to get to the heart of the matter and prosecute those at fault. It's not like no one was at fault.
Are those at fault for the largest man-made economics failure in history too powerful to be touched? One would think so by the lack of a hint of action against anyone. But what does this say, that you can hide in plain sight for screwing everyone with a home, a job or a wallet on a global basis if you can hide behind the American political system? That's exactly what it is saying, to the world, and to history.
As a small business owner myself I would be happy to pay my fair share in taxes, 30% or even a little more would be fine with me if I was making over a quarter of a million a year. But I am not, I am another poor business man and artist just trying to scratch and claw his way into a manageable lifestyle.
The insurance companies, underwriters and the major banks were bailed out, they weren't even allowed to fail, and yet this congress is happy to shaft the American dreamer and take his land, house or farm.
For Christ's sake, I have a college education and I am working a mininum wage part-time job in a futile attempt to make ends meet with my so-called career as a logo design artist, a graphic designer, a website designer and developer, as well as an artist. How do I pay back these student loans that have doubled over just with interest?
It's time for a revolution. Benjamin Franklin thought we would see one every 20 years or so. Well, it's about time, now! Idiot congress. Ruthless corporations.
